Open Messages
Click the Messages icon in the sidebar to see all your conversations.

Start a new conversation
Click the compose button. Search for a person or create a group.

Browse existing chats
Scroll through your conversation list. Unread messages are highlighted.

Click to open
Select a conversation to open the full chat view with message history.

Type, format, and send messages with rich text support.

Type your message and press Enter to send. Shift+Enter for a new line.

React to messages with emojis. Hover over a message to see the reaction picker.

Pin important messages so they're easy to find later in the conversation.

Type @ to mention someone. They'll get a notification even if the chat is muted.

Press ↑ to quickly edit your last sent message.

Share documents, images, and files directly in your conversations.

Attach a file
Click the paperclip icon or drag & drop files into the chat window.

Preview before sending
Images and documents show a preview so you can confirm before sending.

Download shared files
Click on any shared file to download it, or hover to see preview options.

Open search
Use the search bar at the top of the messages panel.

Type your query
Search by message content, person name, or file name.

Filter results
Narrow down by conversation, date range, or file type.

Jump to context
Click a search result to jump directly to that message in the conversation.

Search works across all your conversations — both direct messages and group chats. Use quotes for exact phrase matching.

Stay on top of new messages without getting overwhelmed.

Get notified for direct messages and @mentions. Group chats only alert on mentions.

Unread counts appear on the Messages icon in the sidebar and next to each conversation.

The Messages sidebar icon shows a badge with unread count.

Mute noisy conversations
Right-click a conversation and select Mute to silence notifications.

Customize notification settings
Go to Settings to configure which messages trigger notifications.
